Have your made an internet marketing plan for finding your niche business?
If the answer is no you’re in good company. Very few potential entrepreneurs sit down and make a business plan before they begin the arduous task of building a successful business.
The first place to begin is to decide on the niche you will be promoting for your business.
A niche is a group of people looking for something specific. When you determine what your niche marketing website will be it should be something people are searching for but also something that interests you.
This is the only way you will be successful in creating a website where products will sell or ideas will generate into services.
How to you find the perfect niche?
This is an easier question asked than answered. There is, however, a simple way to determine what people are interested in. Then it is up to you to determine if your interest matches theirs.
You begin by doing a Google search or using specific products to aid you in your search. You should begin with a broad search and narrow it down from there.
For instance, you could begin with freelance work. If you put freelance work into Google, you get the below results:

As you can see this is a huge market. Keep narrowing it down such as freelance work at home to get you

In other words, as you narrow the field, you narrow the results and make your choices easier and more specific.
Now if you enlist the aid of a tool such as Jaaxy, you will be able to determine exactly which niche would be most profitable. As in the example below.

As you can see, using a service on Jaaxy can really improve how to determine the best niche to pick. Too broad of a niche will bring you too much competition thus narrowing it down will give you the necessary interest without having such stiff competition in the search engines.
Freelance work has 4,836 searches per month giving you the potential of 823 hits to your site in a month but you have 462 competing websites which grossly narrows your results and keeps you from being on the first page of Google.
Freelance work at home looks much better with 768 searches a month with the potential of 131 hits with a lower competition of 251 sites.
Freelance graphic work narrows it down considerably to only 40 searches per month but 7 hits and only 230 competing sites. This might be too narrow for your purposes.
However, the end numbers of 3, 55, and 82 show the actual chances of ending up on the first page of Google. The higher the score the better.
Using the Jaaxy tool you will be able to determine which niche will enable you to fall in better Google ratings thus helping your website’s ranking.
Another Tool to Aid You 
http://dmoz.org is a tool that gives you thousands of websites and possible niches for your own website.
The biggest thing to remember when deciding upon a niche website is to determine:
- Is it something people need.
- Should you pick a product, a service or simply information.
- Are you interested enough in this niche to maintain a website designed around promoting it.
- Make sure there are many ways to increase interest in this niche and make it profitable
Your niche can be something so simple as how to take care of a Betta Fish or something more intricate such as what type of software is best for various online marketing processes.
Only you can decide the niche that works best for you; then you need to explore the avenues of that niche and determine which affiliate marketing is available in that area. This too can add to your website.

Is 500 competitions too much? What would be a nice figure to go for?

Thanks for your question. If the niche is getting 500 searches it is probably very competitive. If you aren’t really interested in it you might have a difficult time finding content to place on the site. For instance if your interest was fresh water fishing the field may be too broad but fishing for walleye and how and where to find it would be niche with less competition than fishing in general. I’d do some searching in Jaaxy or google and see how you can narrow down the field. Hope this helps.
